Rayah Hussain H Alhandhal
Doctoral Researcher
I am a PhD student working on advanced laser and spectroscopy techniques to investigate and control spin dynamics in innovative materials. I earned my MSc in Laser and Spectroscopy Physics from King Saud University, where I conducted research on laser interactions with different materials. My academic interests include graphene and graphene oxide, particularly their optical responses under laser irradiation, as well as nuclear detection techniques using CR-39 nuclear track detectors. I am especially interested in connecting laser spectroscopy with material science to advance applications in sensing and emerging quantum technologies.
Ms Jes Menezes
Doctoral Researcher
I am pursuing my PhD as part of the Applied Quantum Technologies CDT, under the supervision of Dr Adetunmise Dada and Prof Stephen Barnett, after having completed my MSci in Physics at the University of Bristol. My project looks to investigate aspects of quantum information processing in high-dimensional quantum systems, or qudits, specifically by using high-dimensional entangled quantum states. My research interests include quantum communication, quantum sensing and quantum measurements.

Mr Reuben Harris
Summer Intern (2025 & 2026)
Reuben Harris is an MSci Physics student, currently interning at the EQOQI Lab. He is working on building and testing an entanglement generation setup and implementing measurements to test feasibility of the BBM92 quantum key distribution protocol. Reuben is particularly interested in quantum optics, quantum information, and experimental physics. https://www.linkedin.com/in/reuben-harris-145635274/
Alumni
Mr Xu Kang Tan
MSc Project Student
Worked on detecting high-dimensional entangled bipartite states (think qudits, not just qubits). Why it’s exciting: richer information per particle and new opportunities for resilient quantum protocols.
